The Foundation welcomes Nancy Whalley as the new Digby Area Community Navigator!  

This position is extremely important to our area to enhance the recruitment and retention of health care professionals. Nancy has over 16 years of experience in the health care sector and has a lifelong connection to Digby County.  

A few things the community navigator will do:

 

• Work with provincial recruiters and others to facilitate the acquisition of family practice doctors and other health care professionals to the Digby area

• Develop a consistent strategy to meet and greet potential doctors and other health care professionals and showcase the area to them

​

• Develop a mechanism of communication with doctors to help increase retention

​

• Engage with community youth who are interested in pursuing a career in medicine

​

• Facilitate a smooth transition for health care professionals to the community by assisting with housing, arranging childcare, spousal employment and provide regular check ins

​

• Organize special events and tours with medical learners
